What Salesforce Marketing Cloud postings look for

Marketing Cloud roles are built around the studios and builders: Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Contact Builder and Content Builder, with data extensions and segmentation underneath. Developer roles add AMPscript, SSJS and SQL; admin and consultant roles lean on account setup, Marketing Cloud Connect, deliverability and consent.

The naming is the most tangled in the ecosystem. Marketing Cloud Engagement is the product many resumes still call "Marketing Cloud" or "SFMC". Pardot became Marketing Cloud Account Engagement, a separate B2B product. In July 2025 the Marketing Cloud Administrator, Developer and Consultant certifications gained "Engagement" in their names, and on 24 July 2026 Email Specialist became Marketing Cloud Engagement Specialist.

The newest name is Marketing Cloud Next, which some postings and vendors call Agentforce Marketing. List it, or Data 360 and Personalization, only if you have used them.

Where to Put Keywords on Your Resume

Where a keyword appears matters to people reading your resume, and some checkers weigh it too.

Summary & Skills sections

Put your top required keywords here. Recruiters scan these first. Our checker adds up to 8 points to the overall score when the job's required skills appear in your Summary or Skills section, scaled by how many of them are there.

Experience bullets

Keywords in experience bullets provide context and evidence. A skill listed in Skills plus proven in experience is stronger than either alone. Use natural phrasing — don't keyword-stuff.

Acronyms vs. full terms

Many checkers treat “ML” and “Machine Learning” as the same keyword, but not all do. Use both forms at least once each.

Exact phrasing matters

Use the exact keyword forms shown above. If the JD says “PostgreSQL” don't only write “Postgres” — include both forms. Minor variations can fail exact-match ATS filters.

Questions about Salesforce Marketing Cloud resumes

Pardot, Account Engagement or MCAE: which name should I use?

Use the posting's wording. Pardot was renamed Marketing Cloud Account Engagement, often shortened to Account Engagement or MCAE, and the checker treats all of these as one product. It is a different product from Marketing Cloud Engagement, so do not merge the two on your resume.

My certificate says Email Specialist. What do I write now?

It was renamed Marketing Cloud Engagement Specialist on 24 July 2026. Write the name the posting uses and add the other once, for example "Marketing Cloud Engagement Specialist (formerly Email Specialist)".

How technical should a Marketing Cloud resume be?

Match the role. Developer postings expect AMPscript, SSJS and SQL in your bullets. Admin and consultant postings care more about account setup, Marketing Cloud Connect, data design and deliverability.

Should I add Marketing Cloud Next?

Only if you have worked with it. Some postings and vendors call it Agentforce Marketing; the checker treats both names as the same product.
